Over the past 32 years as a former high school teacher and basketball coach, Jonathan considers himself fortunate to have had the opportunity to positively impact many young people and athletes. After completing his under graduate degree (Kinesiology and Social Science degrees), Jonathan attended Teachers College at The University of Toronto. Throughout his high school and university years, he excelled both academically and athletically. His academic career culminated in several different Academic and Athletic awards. His multifaceted success lends credence to his mantra, which his former players will attest to, “strong mind, strong body, strong team”.

Jonathan’s first twenty years as a high school teacher were spent at Westwood Secondary School in Malton, Mississauga. As the head coach of the Junior and later the Senior team, Westwood was frequently either ROPSAA finalists or champions. From the early 1990’s to the mid 2000’s, the Malton area high school basketball program developed some of the best players in Canada. To assist with the opening of a new school in 2004, Jonathan left the Malton area to join the Counselling and Co-operative Department at Fletchers Meadow SS in Brampton.

To assist with the growth of basketball in Southern Ontario, Jonathan became one of the original members of the CIABOUNCE Basketball Development Program. As an OBA and AAU coach, he was instrumental in the massive growth of many basketball players, helping them achieve their basketball goals including; attending Prep Schools in the U.S.A. and Universities in Canada. Some of the former players who were part of this organization included NBA’s Tristan Thompson, Andrew Wiggins and Jamal Murray.

Coach Graham’s teams have always held players countable to exceptional achievement. Jonanthan expected players to attend practices, maintain high academic standards and be positive role models in both their school and community. Many of Jonathan’s former players now work in connection with or play professional basketball in many parts of the world.
